Why are the Russian War Criminals?

I cannot understand why the West and the Media are calling the Russians war criminals over Aleppo? War is a horrible thing and it is not possible to go to war and only kill soldiers but because civilians are being hurt and killed in Aleppo by Syrian and Russian bombs they must be War criminals?   The question must be asked why are they bombing this area? Simple they are bombing Islamic Militants and their Mercenary allies if the they and the West really cared about the population they should tell the Militants to withdraw and the bombing would stop, aid would get in and the city can be rebuilt. Lets not forget in WW2 London and Coventry were bombed by the Nazis, the Allies bombed Dresden etc. and sent the Dam Buster in to flood the Ruhr valley killing many civilians. To try and Moralise War is ridiculous.
Lets look at the Syrian conflict Assad was and is a dictator but before the war it was a safe place to live the people had job, had money to food and goods people could worship any religion they liked and yes if you did not agree with him you would be tortured and murdered not the sort of person to run a country but the majority fared well.
Instead of War their could have been many ways to unseat the Dictator but were any tried NO. The West led by USA, UK and most probably the Saudis want him removed quickly so when the Arab Spring came about and a Rebel Syrian Group started a Civil War, they encouraged them, financed them and gave them weapons, Why because they thought it would be a quick end to Assad BUT they were wrong because many Syrians fought for Assad not out of fear but loyalty. When Russia and Iran saw that the West was orchestrating this conflict they sided with Assad. Now we are on the verge of a War against Russia, thankfully Cameron has gone who tried to get us to send in planes but was stopped by Parliament But if Clinton gets in watch out she is a warmonger and in the pocket of the Saudi’s.

Assad is a terrible man but is he any worse then the Islamic Militants? When will the West admit to the mess they have made of the Middle East and when will the British Press, Media and establishment stop peddling Propaganda? Sometime Military intervention is necessary but it must be the last resort not the first one

Boundary Change is Fair

Boundary Change

Every so often the Boundary Commission, which is independent of Government and political parties, look into the Parliamentary Constituents to see if they are a fair and accurate representation of the People.
For many years people have complained that we have to many MP’s and that the various Constituencies are unfair in their representation of the whole of the Country, some Contingencies have a lot fewer electorates then others, yet they can elect an MP with fewer people. I think you will agree that this is unfair and undemocratic
So the Boundary Commission have said that each Constituency should have the same amount of Electorate as each other. So that is fair everyone’s vote is equal throughout the Country and you would get a fair a representation Parliament. Of course Labour and the woolly LibDems are shouting foul why because they will lose out on the voting pattern of 2015 BUT if they were net gainers would they complain? NO!

I used to favour the first past the post until the last election when I saw 3.8 million people voted UKIP ( I voted Conservative) and get 1MP the SNP have 1.5 million and get 56 MP’s now how can you say that is fair or democratic. So maybe it is time again to look at Proportional Representation?

Val on a Bike at Herne Bay

Herne Bay

This weekend we spent some time at Herne Bay on Saturday night we returned to Charlie’s Bistro and the starter was quite something; White Bait, Humus, Battered Prawns, Battered Cod Goujons, Pitta Bread, Calamari Chips was more like a main meal. What I feel is disappointing is that no ones seems to dress for the occasion, this was a nice Restaurant but people were turning up in shorts, T Shirts etc looking really scruffy. It seems I am old fashioned which is a shame. Interesting to see couple next to us who about our age, which I am sure, were not married. Val said to me how do you know that I replied they are talking to each and laughing married couples do not do that.

Sunday back to Herne Bay on a lovely sunny day ideal for a walk along the promenade and take a look at the Motor Bikes. Val liked them as you can see by the photo hopes she doesn’t want to buy one as they are very expensive. Tried the Turkish restaurant for a snack I had the Liver, which was excellent, will be back.

Always meet someone form Sittingbourne this time it was Stumpy and his  young lady and then my Granddaughter Connie appeared. You always have enjoyable walk in Herne Bay, I wonder if you can remember the TV Series which was called CockleSea which was filmed in Herne Bay

Herne Bay always brings back memories of the many Judo/Sambo events held on the Pier (now demolished)

I have said in the past I am surprised how many people have dogs but this women take the biscuit (pardon the pun)  she had six dogs

Friday a visit to Whitstable a town I love. It is like going back to the 1950'60's a traditional English Town yet with all modern shops but many family businesses. What Whitstable has done is adapted the original buildings and kept the feel of the Town. Time for another snack this time it was at the Italian Restaurant Zizzi which has used on several occasions

You want a day out visit Whitstable it will be a good day out

Is University the answer

For over 20 years I have been concerned about various Governments and the Political Establishment drive to push young people into a academic career with the ultimate aim of University so much so nearly 50% of all young people now attend University that is very good but what about the 50% who do not go they are either forgotten or treated as failure. This I find is upsetting and untrue, I went to a Secondary Modern School Westland’s and I have had a successful Sporting career in Judo, Sambo, Weightlifting and Jiu Jitsu but also importantly I have been a successful businessman. I left school at 15 and started an Agricultural Apprenticeship a business I never stopped in but I tried many other types of work and business. Many of my friends did not have a University education but have run very successful businesses and have become millionaires.
The advantage my generation had was that we left school at 15 and many went into apprenticeships that is not happening to today Young Adults have to stay on at School till they are nearly 18 and in my opinion coming out no better educated then when I left at 15 with exam papers . This countries biggest failure by various Governments and Business is practically abandoning the Apprenticeship scheme. The short term idea of employing foreign tradesman who would work cheaper and the fact Companies would not need the expense of training apprenticeship proved very cost effective. Yet they had failed a generation of young people.
Now why have I brought this subject up, well last night at our Judo/Sambo Club a young man came along and asked for my son John Clarke when I asked why? He said that John had taught him Construction at School and got him an apprenticeship, which he just finished and had come out fully qualified and he wanted to thank my son.
Obviously as a Father I felt very proud not just of my son but also of the young man who recognised the input my son had in his life. John first started teaching Construction at Sittingbourne Community College 14 years ago when the College amalgamated with Westland’s he continued with them. Many of his students managed to get apprenticeships with his help, he took many of these young people who were considered academic failures and through the Construction course got them through exams and made them feel worth while not failures. Academia is good and the right path for some Young people but not for all this country needs people who work with their hands it needs people who can do manual work. Life has many paths and just one path is not always the path to success or happiness. No young person should be considered a failure.
Recent news is that the Government is encouraging Apprenticeship, which is good but let us  get away from the continual propaganda that the higher percentage going to University is the only way forward.

John has now left Westland’s under mutual agreement for reasons most of you know about, I feel he will be a great loss to the School and the Construction course if it continues for the next few years. Yet John was quite philosophical about the his leave as he is now back on the tools, which he says will help him get back into the reality of the Work place. He says he will return to teaching Construction but with an even bigger understanding of what is required
