ROAD PRICING EXCUSE TO TAX MOTORISTS

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you
having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly
bill to use it.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the
BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a
delivery driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86
in one month.
On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody
will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you
have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit
you can expect a NIP with your monthly bill.
If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the
car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website
The idea of tracking every vehicle at all times is sinister and wrong. Road pricing is already here with the high level of taxation on fuel. The more you travel - the more tax you pay.

It will be an unfair tax on those who live apart from families and poorer people who will not be able to afford the high monthly costs.

Please Mr Blair - forget about road pricing and concentrate on improving our roads to reduce congestion.

HOMOSEXUALS DO NOT GET MARRIED

Whilst listening to Classic FM at approx 3pm Friday. I heard a rather crass piece of sensationalism normally attributed to more down market radio stations "A proposal of marriage on air" this in itself is rather tacky but when it turns out the conversation was between two men I obviously felt disgusted not just by the promotion of homosexuality but the inaccuracy of the fact one man asked another to marry him, to my knowledge there is no legal way Homosexuals can marry each other in the UK. They can enter a Civil Partnership, which even on the government web site states this is not a marriage, (The Civil Partnership Act 2004 is a British Act of Parliament enacted in 2004. ... to have the right to enter into a non-marriage civil partnership. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Partnership_Act - 29k - Cached - Similar pageso ) I presume this was some sensational reporting to get Classic FM free publicity? if that is the case it has worked

A PC HOLIDAY GREETING

A Friend sent me this

I wanted to send out some sort of holiday greeting but it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone.

I met with my solicitor today, and on his advice I want to say to all of you:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the Winter or Summer solstice holiday, depending on whether you are currently resident or seeking refuge and/or asylum in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Great Britain great (not to imply that Great Britain is necessarily greater than any other country ), and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wisher.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.

This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the
issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher...

Prostitutes & Drugs

I like the rest of the country am shocked by the recent murders of the Prostitutes but we must learn lessons from this misery. Surely the time has come for legalised brothels as there will always be a need for men and women to pay for Sex, a lot of people say why bother paying it readily available at anytime free of charge, with young people treating the sex act and morality the same as playing a computer game. This may be the case but there are people who want to be totally dispassionate about the whole act, that being the case give the women a safe environment to work in.

My main concern is not what they are doing is why they are doing and it seems that “illegal drug dependency” is the cause. All we hear from the Police and the chattering classes is we should go after the dealers, great idea but no dealer can survive without customers. For far to long we have ignored the users, the people who keep the drug barons in power, stop treating occasional drug users as victims. Lets make example of these recreational drug takers and maybe there will be less addicts in then future, plus we could spend more money on the addicts who are victims.

I would come down hard on anyone caught with drugs no matter how small, first time offence a heavy fine relevant to their income i.e. 4 weeks money this would be fair as it would be relative, second offence 6 months prison and if there is not enough prisons build more. In the long term less people would take drugs, so therefore less people are in prison. Make high profile example of Pop Stars and people in Public life they are well aware they have big influence on the public so therefore they are duty bound to act responsible.

Will this happen NO because to many professional people want to protect their offspring from a criminal record, Pop Stars seem to think it’s a badge of rebellion to take drugs and all them have the money to get a cure but what of the kid on a Council Estate who can not afford the cure and just wants to emulate their hero’s.

Society has made drug use easy and has accepted it as part of life! Well that has not worked so time has come for draconian methods before we continue to fall further into the sew called “Modern Britain”

SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR BRAVE TROOPS

SWALE’S very own community radio, BRFM 95.6, is using the Internet to broadcast a special request show for local people who are serving overseas with the Armed Forces.

The programme, which will be broadcast on Friday 29th December during the Danny Lawrence Show, which runs from 1pm to 4pm, will play requests sent in from Swale families who have relatives serving abroad.

This unique broadcast is being organised in association with the Soldiers, Sailors and Airman Families Association whose local Chairman, Brian Lyons, will help present the programme.

BRFM 95.6 are accepting requests not only from people with relatives serving abroad, but also from ex servicemen who live in the Swale area and would like a record played.

Also involved in presenting the show will be Gordon Henderson and Cllr Ken Pugh.

Gordon said:
‘What a brilliant idea! I am old enough to remember Forces Favourites, which was broadcast by the BBC on a Sunday and played requests for members of the Armed Forces serving in Germany.
‘I suppose this is a Twenty First Century version, broadcast from here in Swale, but using the Internet to send messages to loved ones overseas.
‘I would urge local people to make good use of this service not only by sending in their requests to www.office@brfm.net but also by tuning in to BRFM 95.6 on Friday 29th December.
‘Anybody who doesn’t have access to a computer, but would still like to send a message to somebody servicing abroad, or simply have a tune played that reminds them of that person, can send their requests to me at the Halfway Conservative Hall and I will happily forward them to Danny Lawrence.’

VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDANT BRITAIN

An occasional Euro-briefing from Daniel Hannan

Vote for an independent Britain!

The Today programme on radio 4 is running a listeners poll to find the most unpopular law in Britain. The Christmas Repeal invites you to nominate the piece of legislation you would most like to see scrapped. You can vote online at www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/vote/2006vote/

This is a huge step forward from two years ago, when Radio 4 wanted us to squeeze yet another law onto our already crammed statute book (in the event, listeners plumped for a Bill to allow householders to shoot intruders, but the Labour MP who had promised to propose the winning entry in Parliament backed out).

There are, of course, many otiose statutes: The Football Supporters Act, the Firearms Act, the Human Rights Act, the Hunting With Dogs Act and a goodly chunk of the illiberal legislation that has been brought in over the past five years under the guise of anti-terrorism legislation.

But there is surely one outstanding candidate for repeal: the 1972 European Communities Act. This is the piece of legislation that gives EU decisions automatic primacy over British Acts of Parliament. When it was passed, most people assumed that this precedence would be confined to cross-border questions, such as trade, competition and pollution. Thirty-four years on, we know better. Brussels is now the primary source of legislation in the United Kingdom, accounting for 80 per cent of our laws. This astonishing statistic, as regular readers of this bulletin will know, comes from the German Government; our own refuses to name a figure, claiming that it is too expensive to compile the data.

What is the point of voting when four out of every five legal acts in Britain are proposed, not just by people that we didn't vote for, but by unelected EU officials whom nobody voted for?

Scrap the 1972 European Communities Act, and we will automatically restore the supremacy our elected representatives. From that moment, EU directives and regulations would have force in this country only following a specific decision by Parliament to enact them; otherwise they would be treated as advisory.

I shall appear on the Today Programme on Thursday morning to argue the case for repealing the 1972 European Communities Act. If you share my belief in an independent, democratic Britain, please add your vote on the Today programme website. The address again: www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/vote/2006vote/

COUNCIL TAX CON

COUNCIL TAX CON

I expect most of you only have one house so what I am going to say will not affect you but as a landlord of several flats there is a con in my eyes with regard to Council Tax. If one of my flats is empty for more then 6 months (or any property) I have to pay 80% Council Tax on that property! Why there is no one living there so what is the Council Tax being spent on? Why cannot I own a property and leave it empty, it does not cost the Council or the government anything? Once again it is a way of taxing people by the back door.

£190 to cross channel

Last weekend I travelled to Germany to see relatives and visit Europe’s largest Christmas fair in Dortmund. The fair was marvellous and I recommend anyone to attend in fact it was more then a fair it was a spectacular, the main thing I noticed was the presentation nice wooden huts big bar areas a stage everything decked out in greener, English markets could learn a lot from the Germans.
A couple of things annoyed me why is it in Europe I pay 66p per litre for diesel and in the UK I pay 97p? Why is diesel considerably cheaper then petrol in Europe yet in the UK it is dearer?
I originally booked a ferry for the crossing which cost £85 return because of the very bad weather I cancelled and was charged a £30 cancellation fee no problem with that, so booked to go on the Euro Tunnel this cost £190, if Euro Tunnel want to make money, which through bad management they are not doing, they need to encourage people to use the tunnel these prices put people off. I for one will think twice about travelling again with them, plus they have an automated check in system which causes havoc and long queues on both sides of the channel, you are told to arrive ½ before departure to book in reality you have to be there 1 hour before because it took us ½ hour to go through check in. As for security there is none my daughter went with an out of date passport and it was not checked properly either side.
Queuing and long delays are common today the excuse being security but I wonder if it is just inefficiency and understaffing.

CINEMA TO CLOSE "SO WHAT"

In the local paper their featured a piece on the closure of the local Cinema/Bingo Hall and the fact that a Christian group wanted to buy it and convert it into a church. One of your reporters commented that rather then let this building become a Church it should be a centre for the community, 1) “surely a Christian Church is a centre for the community” 2) presumably this community centre would be paid for by the Council.
My first reaction is why should the Council get involved in investing Council Tax payer’s money in a “Community Centre” what ever that means? Most of us know that these types of projects are usually not financially viable and become a drain on Council Tax payer’s money, with a small group of people running it with their own agenda. I own the building which houses the Swale Martial Arts Club which is an Amateur run body they would not expect to be financially supported by the local council and nor should they, there are grants available for small projects which are available if the Council think worthy. If a group wants to convert the Cinema into a Community Centre let them raise the money and run it as a non profit making self financing organisation, Council Tax payer’s money being put into projects like this is just another form of Tax and considering we are one of the most taxed counties in the world enough is enough.

What other things could be done with building 1) demolish it and build something else 2) Attract an apartment store to use it, it is big enough 3) Entertainment Centre i.e. restaurant, bar, night club etc 4) Indoor market with lots of small shops, cafes, antiques, ob je dar etc, 5) Offices 6) Casino. I am sure there is much more can be done but a Community Centre NO. With the state this country is in maybe we should encourage more Christian Churches maybe we they can the Christian ethic back into the UK where the government and political parties are failing remember our whole fabric of British Society is based on Christianity.

Pension Rip Off

At 56 I had a look at my pension scheme I have been paying in for decades and decide I was not getting much from them. I telephoned and found that one pension was worth oa considerable ammount, yet when I came to claim I was told I could only get 25% as a cash payment, the government had brought in a law forbidding me to have access to MY MONEY!!!! it gets worse I had 25% and the rest as a monthly pension a pittance at £161.48p, my first payment came today and I was deducted £35.52p tax. Remember all the money I had paid in was taxed, these Robber Barons called Tony Blair and henchman Gordan Brown do not encourage people to prepare for old age, so I suggest that once you are 65 years old make sure you have no money or property and live off the state because LABOUR will not support you if you help yourself, they will continue to tax you to the hilt. I wonder what our local MP Derek Wyatt has to say on the subject.

FREE DANCING FOR FAT PEOPLE

FAT PEOPLE TO HAVE FREE DANCE LESSONS

The latest gimmick from the new Labour Government is for “Over weight people to have free dance lessons” what a load of rubbish and waste of money!

Yes we have a problem in this country with people being unfit and overweight, this leads to all sorts of diseases, plus it could cost the NHS money. It could be argued that the government of the day should warn us about this and advise us to do something about it, the operable word is ADVICE not DICTATE, why does this government want to get involved in every aspect of our lives. One must ask the question how long will be before if you are over a certain weight you will be ordered to attend Dance Classes. What next Restaurants being ordered not to serve O.W.P. (over weight people), supermarkets restricting food to O.W.P.? That will never happen I hear you say “well they made laws making it an offence to smoke tobacco and in Scotland they want to try and bring out a law to restrict how much you can drink in a day” The British people are not dumb animals they have a brain and they can think plus they can make up their own minds.
For those people who wish to be fat and lazy surely that is their choice and why should they get preferential treatment over someone who trains, watches what they eat and has a healthy life style, if anyone should be rewarded it is them because they become less of a burden to the NHS, they have less time off work so over a lifetime pay more in taxes. What is over weight? I am 6ft 2inches and weigh 23st 7lbs according to the charts I have to be 15st 7lbs yet I am ex World Judo Champion and have not been 15st 7lbs since I was 15 years old, I train 5 times a week, watch my food and alcohol intake, eat healthily, my chest still bigger then my stomach and am very fit for a 56 year old man. My only problem is that I need a knee replacement as this gets worse I become more and more immobile, so get a new knee I hear you say! Well for the last 3 years I have been told I cannot have the operation because I am to heavy, I should lose 8 stone! The same money it would cost to operate on me, three others could have the operation, so is it weight or money or waiting lists yet if I go private at a cost of £10,000 my weight would not be a problem. I use this example to highlight the con of this business of O.W.P. the excuse not to look after you soon it will be lose weight or die. Recently a report came out stating that we should get away with the obsession of weight and concentrate on being fit, this to me is a common sense approach because as you start to train you begin to realise what effect alcohol and junk food have on your body and if you are lucky you will lose weight, for those who do not, well at least you will be a fit O.W.P. like me.
As for Tony Blair and Gordon Brown maybe they should concentrate on getting the country into better shape then interfering in what I do.

An Update on "A Squirrels Tale"

A SQUIRRELS TALE

REST OF THE WORLD VERSION:
The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed.

The shivering grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
THE END

THE U.K. VERSION:
The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed.

A social worker finds the shivering grasshopper, calls a press conference and demands to know why the squirrel should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others less fortunate, like the grasshopper, are cold and starving.

The BBC shows up to provide live coverage of the shivering grasshopper; with cuts to a video of the squirrel in his comfortable warm home with a table laden with food.

The British press inform people that they should be ashamed that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so, while others have plenty.

The Labour Party, Greenpeace, Animal Rights and The Grasshopper Council of GB demonstrate in front of the squirrel's house.

The BBC, interrupting a cultural festival special from Notting Hill with breaking news, broadcasts a multi cultural choir singing "We Shall Overcome".

Ken Livingstone rants in an interview with Trevor McDonald that the squirrel got rich off the backs of grasshoppers, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the squirrel to make him pay his "fair share" and increases the charge for squirrels to enter inner London.

In response to pressure from the media, the Government drafts the Economic Equity and Grasshopper Anti Discrimination Act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The squirrel's taxes are reassessed.

He is taken to court and fined for failing to hire grasshoppers as builders for the work he was doing on his home and an additional fine for contempt when he told the court the grasshopper did not want to work.

The grasshopper is provided with a council house, financial aid to furnish it and an account with a local taxi firm to ensure he can be socially mobile. The squirrel's food is seized and re distributed to the more needy members of society, in this case the grasshopper.

Without enough money to buy more food, to pay the fine and his newly imposed retroactive taxes, the squirrel has to downsize and start building a new home.

The local authority takes over his old home and utilises it as a temporary home for asylum seeking cats who had hijacked a plane to get to Britain as they had to share their country of origin with mice. On arrival they tried to blow up the airport because of Britain's apparent love of dogs.

The cats had been arrested for the international offence of hijacking and attempted bombing but were immediately released because the police fed them pilchards instead of salmon whilst in custody.

Initial moves to then return them to their own country were abandoned because it was feared they would face death by the mice. The cats devise and start a scam to obtain money from people's credit cards.

A Panorama special shows the grasshopper finishing up the last of the squirrel's food, though spring is still months away, while the council house he is in, crumbles around him because he hasn't bothered to maintain the house.

He is shown to be taking drugs. Inadequate government funding is blamed for the grasshopper's drug 'illness'.

The cats seek recompense in the British courts for their treatment since arrival in UK.

The grasshopper gets arrested for stabbing an old dog during a burglary to get money for his drugs habit. He is imprisoned but released immediately because he has been in custody for a few weeks.

He is placed in the care of the probation service to monitor and supervise him. Within a few weeks he has killed a guinea pig in a botched robbery.

A commission of enquiry, that will eventually cost £10,000,000 and state the obvious, is set up.

Additional money is put into funding a drug rehabilitation scheme for grasshoppers and legal aid for lawyers representing asylum seekers is increased.

The asylum-seeking cats are praised by the government for enriching Britain's multicultural diversity and dogs are criticised by the government for failing to befriend the cats.

The grasshopper dies of a drug overdose. The usual sections of the press blame it on the obvious failure of government to address the root causes of despair arising from social inequity and his traumatic experience of prison.

They call for the resignation of a minister.

The cats are paid a million pounds each because their rights were infringed when the government failed to inform them there were mice in the United Kingdom.

The squirrel, the dogs and the victims of the hijacking, the bombing, the burglaries and robberies have to pay an additional percentage on their credit cards to cover losses, their taxes are increased to pay for law and order and they are told that they will have to work beyond 65 because of a shortfall in government funds.

Gaunt on TalkSport

No I am not a sports fan but I do listen to TalkSport Radio 1086 medium wave especially between 10am till 1pm where John Gaunt or GAUNTY as he likes to call himself, it is a really good show. Although I agree with hime most of the time just lately he is becoming the same as a lot of other journalist who continujally tell us "How marvelous the Eastern Europen workers are and how lazy the British workers are" tell me that 2 yaers ago I may have agreed with him. Like him I believe in what the USA does with regard to what I believe they call "Work Fair" Refuse to work no dole. Yet the cheap labour from the Eastern block is affecting genuine British Workers, my own Son in Law had to take a £40 a day drop in pay, his job as an odd carrier was usually around £120 a day now it is £80. He has left the firm who now pay £50 a day because Eastern Europeans will work for that money. The problem is most firms have now dropped there daily pay to £80 he is £200 a week worse of then he was two years ago but he still has to pay the bills. This is repeated all over the country most people in the biulding industry will tell you they earnt more money under Maggie Thatcher then they do now. As for their standard of work at best it is shoddy, I have been to Poland, Russia and Bulgaria I have seen there work. The government keep telling us that immigrants benefit the country well they certainly benefit Company Directors, share holders and people in large houses who get labour on the cheap but once again it is the ordnary man in the street who suffers and we supposed to have a government of the people!

DIGITAL TV RADIO

Analogue TV etc will be closed down next year, being replaced by the all knowing, all seeing, state of the art DIGITAL. Well sorry DIGITAL isn’t all it is cracked up to be, yes we have hundreds of channels, yet main stream programs are cancelled for sporting events and even worse that Jungle Celebrity thing but what is even more infuriating is the PICTURE FREEZE a common occurrence on Telewest and Freeview and if any of you have purchased a DIGITAL RADIO you will experience unexplained shut down. As a caravanner I travel around the country and in only 70% of the places I visit does digital work yet I can always get an analogue signal, admittedly not always perfect. As per usual with these new bits of technology they rarely live up to their hype, who can remember the first CD which we were told was indestructible and would never scratch

INTERFERING BUSY BODIES

A friend of mine who lives in the Maidstone area has just told me about a problem his sister is having. The lady concerned is in her late 30’s divorced with 2 children, she doesn’t work and her ex husband is disabled so therefore she has to rely on the DSS to supported her and her children, I think you will agree a deserving case. Recently a lady operative from the DSS asked to see her, my friends sister attended a meeting at the DSS and was accused of defrauding the DSS. Then began some aggressive questioning concerning the Sister private life the main thrust being:
Q: Do you have a boyfriend?
A: Yes
Q: How long have you been with him?
A: 2years 3 months
Q: Is he living with you?
A: No he has his own flat
Q: Why are you not living together? After all it has been over 2 years?

The questions carried on in the same vain.

It transpired that someone had anonymously accused her of cohabitating, the DSS lady did not make any investigation she took the complaint at face value, although I agree that we should drive out fraudulent claims but there must be a better and more efficient way then this.

What I would like to know is what right has anyone to pry into your personal life, the sister could be a devout Christian and believed in marriage, to be told by some official that she should set up home outside of marriage is disgraceful, I forgot to mention the fact the Sister was indigenous British one would ask the question if she had been of ethnic origin wearing a vale would she have been treated the same way or what if it had been a homosexual?

The DSS lady has demanded to see both the sister and the boyfriend together at her house to make further checks or I would say infringements on her rights but she is to have a shock because the boyfriend has employed a solicitor to be present. CAN YOU WONDER WHY THE INDIGENOUS POPULATION OF THIS COUNTRY ARE LEAVING?

ECO GESTAPO

So our Council Officials have told us that we are to have two waste bins, one for recyclable and the other for ordinary waste, both being emptied on alternative weeks. This has caused problems in other boroughs where flies, maggots etc have accumulated let us also not forget the smell. My Council Tax increases every year by more then inflation, I realise this is mainly the fault of National Government but I am now about to get an inferior service and one that could cause a health hazard. With the election coming next year I hope all councillors who want a two week service tell us who they are and the voters can give their opinion in the ballot box. Although I have no problem with a Recycle bin I do have the room to store one I pity the people who have to have plastics sacks lying around full of recyclable waste for two weeks plus plastics sacks are not very eco friendly. How will the Council monitor this will they leave it to the bin men to decide whether I have deposited the correct waste material in the right bin or will they employer extra staff to monitor the rubbish at extra cost to the Council Tax Payer who will most probably be given a car to use and help pollute the atmosphere? I expect they will introduce a Bye Law to enforce the council tax payer to fill the bins correctly, then we will have people taken to court for putting the wrong waste in the wrong bin, they will then have a criminal record, what if they have a fine unpaid will they be put in prison which are over crowded? Mind you we could let a few more murders go to make room for the Eco criminal.
NO the whole idea is a disgrace I want my waste collected once a week that what I pay my Council Tax for. I have a much better idea instead of using the STICK why not use the CARROT i.e. give the council tax payer the freedom to choose whether they want be eco friendly by offering them rewards for instance if you have recyclable bin we will deduct £100 a year of your Council Tax and after a while most people would take up the offer and can you imagine the dirty looks you would get if you did not have a recyclable bin. This would not alienate the Council from the community and would work more efficiently and most probably be cost saving as most things that are done voluntarily are done better and cheaper. Yes you will still get the odd individual who will not conform but that is going to happen away. One last thing if I put out my bin ready for collection and someone come along a puts the wrong rubbish in will I be responsible? Will the Eco Gestapo have to prove in court that I produced the rubbish? Or will we all have padlocks to the bins lids? If so who opens them?

IS IT TIME FOR REVOLUTION

For those of you who read my letters you will know how much I dislike the European Union, I believe it is a Dictatorship by the simple fact that power is in the hands of unelected officials.
Please take the time to read some articles below. In the 60's it was the lefties who coined the phrase "COME THE REVOLUTION" well maybe that time has come if we are to value our freedom.

Set out in the latest Bruges Group research by Gerard Batten MEP the full costs to Britain have now been calculated. The facts:
Britain has given nearly £200 Billion to the EU since we joined
In 2007 UK taxpayers will be forced to pay £14.2 Billion to the EU
The EU costs every man, woman and child £873 per year
The EU is costing the British economy £50.6 Billion this year, by 2007 this will rise to £52.4 Billion
That means that by 2007 the cost will rise to nearly £100,000 per minute

An occasional Euro-briefing from Daniel Hannan
Why no riots? Why no mob of aggrieved taxpayers, descending on the European Commission with burning brands? On Tuesday, for the twelfth year in a row, the European Court of Auditors refused to approve the EU budget. Yet the story has pretty much passed Europe’s media by. If a national government agency could not account for the majority of its spending, it would be front page news. But, faced with the usual Brussels tales of bogus invoices and non-existent farm products and collusion between the authorities and the fraudsters, we shrug our shoulders indifferently.
In our collective reaction, I think one can descry the beginning of the end of Britain’s relationship with the EU. The other day, I happened to read a review of a book about successful relationships. The author’s chief point, if I understood her correctly, was that a marriage can weather a good deal of arguing. Rows between husband and wife suggest that each values the other’s opinion enough to want to change it. It is when bickering gives way to scorn that the marriage is over.
That, it seems to me, is what is happening vis-à-vis the EU. For seven years, I have been writing about Euro-corruption. I have recorded the petty extravagances — MEPs’ expenses, Commissioners’ allowances — and the gargantuan sleaze: the billions of euros that disappear from the CAP, structural funds and foreign aid. At first, these articles used to provoke furious reactions from readers. But, as the years have passed, a resigned, disdainful tone has crept into their responses. People seem to be giving up on the idea that Brussels might ever be reformed. The relationship has reached that fatal stage where anger is giving way to contempt. Sooner rather than later, we shall file for separation.

MP Derek Wyatt misleads public again

I am proud to say I was one of those Conservatives who voted for Gordon to become Parliamentary Spokesman with the veiw that he will make an excellent MP and someone who knows the area, the letter below prove my point. The rather ineffective MP Derek Wyatt is just like his government all spin and no substance, I cannot wait for the worst government this country has seen in hundreds of years being kicked out.

PRESS RELEASE
Date: 29th October 2006

Subject: New kid on the blog.

GORDON Henderson, who was recently reselected as the Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Sittingbourne & Sheppey, has launched his own website blog.

Gordon said:

'To be honest I am not entirely sure in which direction the website blog is heading. Ultimately I want it to be a daily record of what I’ve done, both politically and privately, but I’m really not sure that I will have the time to update it daily.

‘The problem is that I am not really a politician. I am just an average bloke who has to get up early every morning and go to work to earn a living in order to pay the mortgage.

‘But I am an average bloke who also has a dream that someday I will be in a position to make my community and my country a better place.

‘I care passionately about my family, my community and my country and that is the message that I want to put over in my blog. Of course, sometimes my blog will be political, but basically, I want it to be a spontaneous outpouring of my thoughts. I want people to see who I really am, warts and all.

‘People have lost trust in politicians because they feel they live on a different planet. I want people to be able to trust me because they know that I am the same as them. I will be honest with them They might not always agree with my views, but at least they will know where I stand, and, more importantly, they will know that I am one of them.

‘Whether they live in Sheerness, Sittingbourne or one of the villages, I want them to know that I have the same concerns as them, the same problems as them and the same daily pressures as them

‘I am concerned about job security; I am concerned about the way in which this Government has allowed too many foreign workers into our country to undermine British tradesmen; I am concerned about the way our green fields are being concreted over; I am concerned about the way in which the “liberal” elite have presided over a erosion of discipline in our society; I am concerned about the increase in anti-social behaviour; I am concerned about the way that criminals are often treated better than their victims and I am concerned about the way in which a culture of political correctness is gagging a proper debate of all these issues.’

Pension SCAM

I have for many years been contributing to a pension scheme my mother started it for me in 1982 as a present for the first year, I carried it on, it was not a great deal of, money just £30 per month recently I received my annual report at 64 years of age I receive £1280 per annum, £24.61p per week, this was derisory amount so I thought I will cash it in. To my amazement I was told I could only collect 25% of the pension in a lump sum why? Because this labour Government introduced a law forbidding me to have my own money, I have been offered a £5729 lump plus £78.97 per month, what I should have got was a £22916 lump. What right has this despotic government got to stop me accessing my own money? Maybe our local MP Derek Wyatt can answer that rather then worrying about what chocolate bars we should eat.

IMMIGRANTS.NOT BRITONS MUST ADAPT

Subject: England
After many cities not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights.
After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered.
After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others !
This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in a British tabloid newspaper.
IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITON'S, MUST ADAPT.Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the "politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others.I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and Women who laid down their lives and one of the millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.
If St.George's cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".If you aren't happy here then P*** OFF! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it.

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please. No matter how many times you receive it... please forward it to all you know.

Illegal Immigrants Poem

This Poem was sent to me WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS

Illegal Immigrants Poem
I cross ocean, poor and broke. Take bus, see employment folk.
Nice man treat me good in there. Say I need to see welfare.
Welfare say, "You come no more, we send cash right to your door."

Welfare cheques - they make you wealthy! NHS - it keep you healthy!
By and by, I get plenty money. Thanks to you, you British dummy!

Write to friends in motherland. Tell them "come fast as you can."

They come in turbans and Ford trucks,And buy big house with welfare bucks!

They come here, we live together. More welfare cheques, it gets better!
Fourteen families, they moving in, but neighbour's patience wearing thin.
Finally, British guy moves away. Now I buy his house, then I say,

"Find more immigrants for house to rent." And in the yard I put a tent.

Everything is very good, and soon we own the neighbourhood.

We have hobby, it's called breeding. Welfare pay for baby feeding.
Kids need dentist? Wives need pills? We get free! We got no bills!
British crazy! They work all year, to keep the welfare running here.
We think UK darn good place. Too darn good for British race!
If they no like us, they can scram. Got lots of room in Afghanistan!
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERY BRITISH TAXPAYER YOU KNOW

Save the Planet NO WAY

Saving The Planet

The latest buzz word is “Saving the Planet” every political party and every council now have jumped on this bandwagon and we the public must be saved from ourselves for we are all “Doomed”. What this translates to is another way of “Taxing the Public”. £1500 to £2500 on car tax, more fuel taxes, more air flight taxes, more climate taxes on electricity, gas etc and do these taxes go purely to save the environment? I doubt it! Of course the first to feel the impact of this is the workingman, the rich and government officials will be able to afford the increases without a blink of eye.
Do their proposal actually achieve their aims? Re-Cycling form Waste Bins something the Government want every council to do for example, a recent report in the news suggests that Re-Cycling with its collection and processing can be as harmful to the environment and will be certainly more expensive. Every right-minded person realises that we have got to do something but does it always have to cost the individual money? Here are some of my suggestions:

1) Streetlights, why do we need a street light every 10 yards? Take the roundabout at East Street Sittingbourne, it has a multitude of lights on the central reservation, lights around the outside and then the footpaths have yet another set of lights. Do we really need the streets to be lit up like daylight? For those who argue (wrongly I might suggest) that they are there for safety reasons, why are the streets still lit up at 2,3,4,5 in the morning? How much electricity this would save? The problem is the government would lose VAT.
2) Why do we import Fruit and Vegetables into the UK when some are grown in abundance locally, think of the environmental damage caused by shipping apples etc form South Africa, Australia
3) Why do we need plastic bags in Supermarkets surely paper would and what about encouraging shoppers to bring their own, this was the norm 30 years ago
4) Why so much packaging. Instead of polystyrene why not use paper or cardboard which can be rotted down.
5) Why not use vegetable oil as fuel instead of Petroleum oil?
6) If the government want us preserve the environment they should give us Solar Panels but then again how much tax would they lose electric sale.
7) Instead of importing so much food why not encourages the public to eat seasonally i.e. only eat fruit when it is cropped.
8) Surely the jaunts MP’s and ministers who travel all over the World can be curtailed look at the damage there travelling does to the environment. Most of there work can be done via the Internet and conference calls.
9) The European Union apart from being the most corrupt and inefficient organisation in the world, there Parliament causes a great deal of pollution for example once a year the whole EU parliament moves from Brussels to Strasbourg how much pollution does that create?
10) Why not give us grants to sink large tanks into the ground for those of us who have gardens, rain and wastewater could be collected. With this we could flush our toilets, water our garden etc, with a filter system we could even wash our car?

The fact is Government, Civil Servants and Political Parties do not want real change they just want to pontificate and keep their grubby hands in the peoples till.

Illegal immigrant flouts law

I received the letter copied above in the post I can not read the signature so have no idea who its from and how they got my address. If what they write about is true and I do say if, one wonders whether or not there is a conspiracy to keep things quite? Also should a nursing home be paying cash in hand? What value does this put on CRB checks? This letter could be from someone who has been cheated on and wants vengeance or it could be the truth? I leave you to draw your own opinion

I could not photo copy the original to my blog so I have included on the letters page of my webb site www.sittingbourne.org below is a transcript

Dear Martin Clarke,

Eve read your letter and the complaints of others who I seem to have a lot in common with. “YES it’s illegal immigrants yet again”. I have in the pass written/phoned the Home Office no less than 20 times, written to Dr. John Clarke himself and also written to Mr Tony Blair (PM), contacted the tabloids, you are my last hope.

I write in regards to an illegal immigrant by the name of Ms. Maxine C. Wallace who resides at 117 Twyford House, Chisley Road, London Ni 5 6PB. Date of Birth 17th March 1971. Ms Wallace came to the UK from Jamaica on a student’s visa in 2001 leaving behind three children (the last child six months when she left her). Ms Wallace was issued with a 2 year student’s visa which expired; she applied for an extension and was issued with an additional year. Ms. Wallace has applied to the home Office on three occasions for leave to stay and was refused on all three occasions. She has recently supplied false documents to the Criminal Records Bureau in order to gain her CRB clearance (she was given the all clear by the bureau despite me informing them of Ms Wallace’s intent). She currently works at Debohun House Nursing Home, Southgate (they have been informed of her illegal status, she is currently receiving cash in hand).

Ms Wallace lives with my ex-partner who is 15 years her senior. She lives, eats and sleeps free of charge. She knows how to play people and the system and it makes me angry. I have tried and tried on many occasions to get this woman sent back to where ever she came from. Even hiring a private detective (hence all the evidence). Ms Wallace has stated on occasions that she has no intention of returning back to Jamaica and she will be staying here.

Why is it that places like Australia, New Zealand and America people are able to voice their opinion in regards to illegal immigrants, why are there so many doo gooders in this country who may I add don’t have to live next to these people. I don’t know where else to turn to for help

NO TO BRITISH SUBJECT

04 October 2006

To Whom it may concern

As a owner of flats and bedsits I am very particular who I allow to rent my properties so I phrase my adverts in such away that I only get the right tenant. This sometimes takes time but most of my tenants become long-term residents
With a big shortfall in housing I decided to invest in converting part of my Martial Arts Centre, the centre is a large old church, these flats are now finished so I approached the local newspapers to advertise. Part of my advert was “British Subjects Only” I was told to include this would be illegal as it was considered racist and I was quoted the following from the Race Relations Act.:

Housing
It is unlawful for anyone selling, letting or managing property (including business premises) to discriminate in any of the following ways:
in the terms on which a person are offered the premises
by refusing to let a person buy the premises
by treating a person differently from others who want to buy or rent
by refusing to transfer a lease to someone
by refusing access to any benefits or facilities at the premises
by evicting you or subjecting a person to other disadvantages

My first question was how am I being racist? A British Subject can be someone of any colour or race!

Why would I want to put restrictions on who I want?
1) I do not want any criminals in my property someone who has entered this country illegally is a criminal.
2) I am looking for tenants who will be long term, these foreign workers, so we are told by the government, will only be here for a short term a transient work force.
3) I do not want potential terrorists renting my accommodation, if the government cannot keep a check on people entering this country how can I?
4) As by law I have to give them a rental agreement they will have to read English
5) But most importantly of all as I have a Martial Arts Club in part of the building, so I have a duty of care if not a legal duty to the children who use the Club. So if I have doubts on anyone I can ask for a Criminal Records Bureaux check to see if they have any criminal records or if they are a threat to the children. How can I make a CRB check on some one who is not a British Subject? Since this government came into power in 1997 immigration has spiralled out of control but more importantly there is no check on the status of people who enter this country legally or illegally so murderers, paedophiles etc are coming into this country in there thousands.

Whether it is legal or not I intend to keep on making stringent checks on my tenants, the safety of the children is much more important then some Politically Correct law.

I wonder what ever happened to the English’s freedom of speech, association and choice. These are my flats I receive no government aid only hindrance, I should have who I like in my property, if this was a free country I would.

EU IS A Beaurocratic Dictatorship

EU IS A Beaurocratic Dictatorship
That is my opinion but just read on to see how to waste money.

Release: immediate
Released by: Richard Ashworth MEP, Conservative budgets spokesman

MEPs ignore the will of one million people and purchase the Strasbourg parliament

We should be parting the Parliament, not procuring it

Brussels, 27th September -- MEPs have today signed off a £100 million appropriation of the European Parliament buildings in Strasbourg, less than a week after oneseat.eu - the online petition calling for the European Parliament to be based in just on place - received its millionth signature. Richard Ashworth MEP, Conservative budgets spokesman in the European Parliament, said the vote in the Parliament's 'bureau' sends out the wrong signal about its eagerness to vacate the premises and sit exclusively in one location.

Every month, the European Parliament decamps from Brussels to Strasbourg for the four-day session. Transporting MEPs, staff and paperwork costs the European taxpayer at least £130 million per year and causes untold damage to the environment through extra emissions.

Many MEPs lament the wasteful "travelling circus" but they are powerless to stop it as the EU's treaties stipulate the Parliament must sit in Strasbourg twelve times per year. Only national governments can decide to change the treaties.

Mr Ashworth said:

"It will take around nine years before the Parliament gets any return on its investment. In that time, the EU would have spent over a billion pounds of taxpayers' money shuffling people and papers around. Some MEPs are acting as if they have saved the taxpayer money - but they could save a great deal more if we finally end the monthly jaunt.

"The agreement requires us to return the land to the City of Strasbourg if we sell the buildings so we effectively only have the leasehold anyway.

"Although we are powerless to stop ourselves coming to Strasbourg, we can send out a clear and consistent message to national governments that we want this item discussed. Hopefully the signatures of one million EU citizens will be enough for national governments to debate Strasbourg at the next EU summit but I fear they will interpret our £100 million spending spree as a statement of intent to keep travelling between two Parliaments.

"Strasbourg has lost its relevancy. It was a fitting symbol of Franco-German reconciliation after the war but - sixty years on - it has become an expensive wedge that causes division, rather than unity."

PC WORLD

I thought I would take advantage of some offers on a New Computer so I travelled down from Sittingbourne to Canterbury PC World, I look round the store for a salesman eventually one turned up. After 15 minutes of asking questions about the product I decided to buy the PC, 10 minutse later I am told the store was out of stock. I then asked a reasonable question why should such a large store run out of stock aspecially as there was a major Newspaper advertising campaign in progress. At this point I asked to speak to the manager but instead of coming to me he sent messages back via the salesman eventually I found the manager telling him I had come a long way his retort was I should have telephoned first and no he would not sell me the display model at a reduced price I could have the display model at the marked price. Could not some one have put a sign saying out of stock any good manager would keep a check on stock. Needless to say I suggest you do not use PC World and I hope PC World read this.

Banks and my money

I recently went into my local bank to with draw £2500 in cash as I had to pay some biulders for work being done in one of my flats. The cashier as per usual was very polite, I gave her my cheque and then came the bomb shell I was asked for 2 forms of ID before they woould cash my cheque. This irratated me I told her that I had been with the bank and this branch for 40 years and was well known she said it was bank policy and she could not do anything about it, I then demanded to see the manager. He dutifully arrived and again was very polite but tried to explain these measures were introduced to prevent fraud, prevent money laundering and prevent terroism my answer was BULLSHIT, I said I was well known not a complete stranger. I did get my money without having to show my passport only because I threatend to bclose my account. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO CARRY AROUND ID in a free country. The whole incident reminded me of the that 60's Programme "the Prisoner" and the catch phrase "I am not a number"

A bit of Fun

WHY??
Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up every two hours?
If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are flat?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

My Personal thougts

My first attempt . Have a look at www.sittingbourne.org

My Personal Thoughts

I am new to Blogging (if that is the right term) so you will have to bear with me. I have called the site my “Personal Thoughts” which could be anything but I expect most will be Politics and Martial Arts.

I have always been interested in Politics but over the last few years my trust in any other the three main parties at National level has got to an all time low. In the past I have been Deputy Chairman local Conservative party, Borough councillor and tried for Kent County Council, I am fervently anti EU. In the UK we starting to go the way of France where we have a political elite who think they have the God given right to rule us, the only hindrance is getting elected, once elected they can do as they please. This has become more so under Tony Blair and his cronies who have a total disregard for the Democratic system and the wishes of the people. A for David Cameron his New Conservative Party has no resemblance to the Party I joined.

So what do I do, well I shall vote Conservative again for the following reasons 1) they are the best of a very bad bunch and anything must be better then this corrupt, inefficient, war mongering Labour Government 2) I am lucky enough to know Gordon Henderson who should be our Conservative Candidate for Sittingbourne & Sheppey at the next election. He is one of those strange candidates who is local, served as a local councillor for a couple of decades, know local people, know s the area. A strange phenomenon in the days where Political Parties at Central Office decide who us plebs should have. 3) I also have met Daniel Hannan MEP who is continually fighting GB’s corner in that den of Evil the European Union.

Well I have started hope you enjoy or at least get annoyed
